Good morning Welcome Class.
I can't believe it is Friday again! I am looking forward to the weekend.
Go to Welcome Class blog on Purple Mash to find out what I want to do this weekend.
You can also tell me what you would like to do this weekend too.
For phonics today, Mrs Owen's group is learning the 'ch' sound.
You need a piece of paper and a pen/pencil so that you can practise your phonics. Watch the video below and make sure you are joining in. When you have finished, take a picture of your writing and put it in your portfolio for me to see.
Well done to Anuar who is showing me his phonics every day.
Miss Powell's phonics group are not learning new sounds today. You are going to be using sounds that you have learnt before - to see if you can remember them and use them to make real English words.
You will find a 2Do on Purple Mash. The sounds you will be using are ie (terrible tie), ea (cup of of tea) and oy (toy for a boy). You can do the activity more than once to see if you can get quicker or beat your score.
It is time to log on to Rapid Readers. Read ONE book and make sure you do the activities. To find the activities you must find the circles with faces in and click on them.
Look at the picture on the right. It shows you what an activity circle with a face in looks like. On Rapid Readers, click on these circles in your book to find the activity.
When you have finished reading your book, draw a picture to show me what the book was about. Then write 2 or 3 sentences to tell me about the book. You can tell me the title and what your favourite part of the book was. Did you learn something new when you read the book?
In English today, you will be learning to retell a story. Watch the video again that I put on the class story in Class Dojo yesterday. It shows me reading the story of The Little Red Hen and you can see the words and pictures in the book on the screen.
Watch the story two or three times so that you know the story really well. Think about what happens first, next and after that until the end of the story.
When you think you know the story really well, I want you to retell the story.
You can choose to draw a story map or do a story board/cartoon strip.
What is a story map? What is a story board? We have done both in Welcome Class before. Look below to remind you.
Look at the picture on the right. This shows a story map for a different story.
It shows the story in pictures in the correct order. If you choose to do a story map, you need to draw a story map to show the story of the Little Red Hen.
If you want to do a story board, look at the picture on the right. It shows a different story on a story board. It uses pictures with some sentences underneath to retell the main parts of the story in the correct order.
After watching the video 2 or 3 times, choose if you want to do a story map or a story board. Do it on a piece of paper then, when you have finished, take a photo and put it in your portfolio on Class Dojo.
I am really looking forward to seeing your work!
For maths today, I want all of you to log on to My Maths and do any work that you have not finished yet. If you have any problems, remember you can message me on Class Dojo or on the Purple Mash Blog. I will try to help as soon as I can.
