English
In English, we will be writing leaflets to persuade tourists to visit South America.
We will also be doing some writing based on the animals that live in the Amazon Rainforest.
Maths
In maths, we will be revision place value and calculations as well as learning about ratio and proportion.
Topics that we will be covering across the half-term
We will be learning about South America in geography. In computing, we will be reading and writing travel blogs. We will study living things in science and learn to draw people in motion in art.
PE
Crimson Class have PE every Tuesday & Friday
Magenta Class have PE every Wednesday & Friday
We have hockey and continue with dance in PE.
Please ensure children have the correct kit in school for when they need it.
Homework
As we are preparing the children for their end of primary school assessments and their transition to high school, we do have slightly higher homework expectations than they may have experienced before.
We check this every week and any homework not completed will be completed during breaks and lunchtimes at school with support from staff.
We will offer lunchtime clubs for children to stay in to complete any of their homework if they choose to.
This is the homework children will be expected to do:
Children need to read at home at least 3 times per week and log this on Boom Reader
Children need to learn their spellings each week.
Children will be given maths homework every Friday and this is due in the following Wednesday.
Children need to complete 21 minutes of TT Rockstars.
Thank you for your support with your child’s learning.
Planned Trips
Trip information will be sent to all parents/carers by Class Dojo
Dates for your diary
UKS2 celebration assembly – Friday 17th January
Parents evening - Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th February
Advanced notice – Children will sit their SATs Monday 12th May to Thursday 15th May 2024.
We will be doing lots of work in school in order to prepare the children for these but it makes a huge difference if you read every day with your child at home and encourage them to practise their spellings and complete their homework on time.
