July 2020

Dear parents, carers and children of Surrey Street,

I hope you all are continuing to stay well and to keep safe. It has been wonderful in the last month to have so many children return to school. They are all now experts at handwashing and social distancing (where appropriate)!

In this newsletter, we are again celebrating the many achievements of children who have been working really hard either at school or at home. If you are one of the Learners of the Month, you should receive a special treat from school within the next week. Enjoy!

Yesterday, the government announced that schools will be open for all children in September and the school staff are all very much looking forward to welcoming you all back. Further details about the arrangements will be sent out to all parents in the next couple of weeks.

It is also the time of year when your children would normally be bringing their school report home. This year, things will be slightly different and reports will instead be emailed to parents. We are hoping that all reports will have been sent out by Friday 10th July so please contact the school after that date if you haven’t received your child’s report.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and safe summer.

Best wishes

Mrs L Adams

June 2020

Dear parents, carers and children of Surrey Street,

I hope you all are continuing to stay well and to keep safe. June is a very exciting month at school this year as we are starting to welcome back children from a number of different year groups. It has been wonderful to see the Year 6 children who have returned this week. They have already settled in well to the new routines and have become expect handwashers!

The Wellbeing Team have been very busy getting things ready for the children’s return and there is now a new surprise awaiting them in the quiet area on the playground.

I hope you all enjoy the newsletter and seeing or reading about all of the great work that is being done at home. Congratulations to the learner of the month winners. Please remember if you are struggling to access the online learning, contact the school or let your teacher or teaching assistant know when they phone you so that we can arrange for a home learning pack to be posted to you.

Also remember, even though the lock down has been eased slightly, you still need to keep a social distance (at least 2 metres) from people who are not in your household in order to keep everyone safe.

I am really looking forward to seeing more of you at school over the next few weeks.

Stay safe everyone,

Mrs L Adams

May 2020

Dear children of Surrey Street,

I hope you all are continuing to stay well and to keep safe. Hopefully by now, you have settled into a good routine and are managing to get an appropriate balance between schoolwork and keeping active.

I hope you are all able to access the website on a daily basis to see what new and exciting work has been set for you by the teachers and teaching assistants. Remember if you are having any difficulties, ask an adult to please let us know so that we can try to help. This week, we are sending out packs for children who are having problems accessing work online.

I know that many of you have already spoken to your class teachers or teaching assistants on the phone. From next week, you should be getting a weekly phone call so you can speak to your teachers about your work and how you are feeling.

Enjoy the newsletter! It is great to see and hear about all the fantastic work that is going on. Well done to all of the learner of the month winners and congratulations to Mrs Zarrouq and her family for the great work they have done on behalf of the school for the NHS.

Remember to stay home to stay safe!

April 2020

Dear children of Surrey Street,

I hope you are all keeping well in these very strange times. I’m sure you are all aware how hard the teachers and teaching assistants are working to find you interesting work and activities to complete at home; however, we have all said how much we miss seeing your happy, smiling faces each day.   It is the Easter holidays for the next two weeks so I’m sure you will be given lots of craft ideas to keep you busy. Hopefully the weather will be good too, so you will be able to get some daily exercise outside (one hour maximum and stay at least 2metres from people who are not from your home).

I hope you enjoy the newsletter. Thank you to all of the children who have sent in examples of things they have done at home and congratulations to all of our Learner of the Month winners – you will be given your smiley face badges when school re-opens.

Remember to stay home to stay safe!

Mrs L Adams

Dear Parents,

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of our two new parent governors, Jekaterina Martonova and Carla Avram, who have already made their first valuable contribution to the school by attending the Governors’ Meeting on 5th February.  I appreciate that being a governor may be too much of a time commitment for many of you; however, if you have any suggestions or questions about how the school is run, please remember that Family Voice happens every month. The next Family Voice meeting is in the family room at 3pm on Monday 10th February so please come along and join us.

I look forward to seeing you all at Parents’ Evening next week. If you are having any difficulties booking an appointment, please speak to the class teacher or the office staff. Thank you for your ongoing support,

Mrs L Adams

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed spending time together as a family.

Thank you to the parents who came to meet the governors on our first ever Governor Day; I hope it helped you to understand more about the important work that governors do. Also thank you to the many parents who attended the Christmas performances. We were all overwhelmed by the fantastic turnout for each event.

You will see in this newsletter that there is a poster which has been designed and made by one of the children to remind parents to please park safely away from the school entrance to keep all children safe. This poster was just one of the many winning entries from our poster competition, so each month we will publish a different poster in our newsletter to help remind everyone of this very important message.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Mrs L Adams

December Newsletter 2019

Dear Parents

We are now on the countdown to Christmas so there are lots of exciting events happening over the next few weeks. I am pleased to announce that, in addition to the Christmas activities, we are holding our first ever Governor Day on Wednesday 11th December. The aim of this day is for our governors to spend time in the school getting to know the parents, children and staff so we would like to invite you to a coffee morning at 9:45am on the 11th where you will have a chance to meet our governors, find out more about their role and, you never know, you may even decide that this is a role that you would like too! We are currently looking for a new parent governor to join our team; information relating to this will be available from Monday.

I would just like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas – remember it is the memories we make, not the presents we buy, that make Christmas special.

Happy Christmas,

Mrs L Adams
