Parent Governor Vacancy Extended - April 2019


Nominations are now being invited for the position of Parent Governor on our school's Governing Body.

Parent governors play an important role as members of the governing body, which is responsible for directing the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards of educational achievement. The term of office for parent governors as determined by the governing body is 4 years. The school has high expectations of the time and commitment required from its governors in order to effectively fulfill their roles.

If you would like to stand for election, nomination forms are available from the school office.Completed forms should be returned to the school not later than 3.30pm on Monday, 25th March.

Nominations must be from parents/carers with children at the school on the day that nominations close. Parents/carers being nominated are invited to provide some brief details limited to not more than 100 words suitable for inclusion in the ballot paper.

Parents/carers who have paid employment in the school for 500 hours per academic year or more or who are elected members of the Local Authority are not eligible to stand in these elections.

If there are more nominations than vacancies the election will be by secret ballot. If that is necessary, voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.

If you are interested in becoming a Parent Governor but feel a little daunted by the

responsibility you may be taking on, remember that full training will be available, and you will always act as part of a team.

No particular experience or qualifications are required. Your role would be as a typical parent bringing a parent's perspective to the running of the Governing Body and the school.
