Welcome back! We hope you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year break! Here is a summary of what children will be learning about this term:
Literacy - we will be learning to suspense stories and letters
Numeracy - we will be learning about measure, statistics and geometry and continuing to recap the four operations
Science - we will be learning about properties of materials
Art - we will be making sculptures
Geography - we will be studying rivers
PSHE - we will be thinking about our dreams and goals
PE - we will be continuing our swimming lessons and playing tennis
RE - we will learn about pilgrimages
Ruby and Garnet will continue to have PE on Fridays and Carmine on Wednesdays. Please make sure your child brings in their PE kit and keeps it in school. Our lessons could be inside or out so they must have plimsolls and trainers. Swimming lessons will continue to take place on Tuesday mornings starting from 9th January and your child will need to bring in their swimming costume and towel in a bag each Tuesday.
As you will be aware, we have had a high focus this year on children reading, practising their number card and spellings as well as remembering their kits. We would like to say a huge well done to the children who have really worked hard to achieve their targets every week and thank you to the parents who have supported children with this. We will be continuing to work on this so please ensure that:
- Children read at home and have their reading record signed at least once a week
- All PE/swimming kits are in
- Children are practising their spellings and numbercard often at home
Learning logs will continue to be optional and we are prioritising spellings, numbercards and reading. However, we have been impressed with the number of children who have completed some learning log tasks as well as their spellings, numbercards and reading and we look forward to seeing even more learning logs this term.
Thank you very much for your support. If you have any questions or queries, please contact us through the school office.
