The start of Spring 2 term is always exciting as we are now half way through the school year! We have been thinking about what we have achieved so far in year 5 and what we would still like to before the end of the year. All of the children have made great achievements and want to continue to improve on their reading and times tables especially. We are looking forward to working with them to help them do this!
In history this week, we have started our new topic of Titanic. We have created rooms on the ship out of shoe boxes and learnt about passengers who travelled on the doomed maiden voyage. What facts can your child remember about the tragedy?
Our English lessons are linked to Titanic too and we are currently writing a discussion text about whether the sinking of Titanic should be a part of popular culture. Can your child explain their opinion on this?In maths this week, we have been revisiting multiplication and the children are learning to use long multiplication. They have found it challenging so far; we are looking forward to continuing to practise it next week!
